3 Enfield Street involved the comprehensive renovation and earthquake strengthening of the historic Horse & Trap building in Mount Eden. The project carefully balanced structural upgrade with preservation of the building’s established character, ensuring long-term resilience while maintaining its identity within the local streetscape.

Designed by Gel Architects Ltd and constructed by Waide Construction, the works included significant seismic strengthening, interior refurbishment and thoughtful restoration of existing architectural elements. Completed in 2016, the project reflects Ellco’s capability in delivering complex upgrade projects that combine heritage sensitivity with contemporary performance standards.
